The Bedford Garden Club is located in Bedford,
Massachusetts. We were founded on September 25, 1956, and celebrated our 50th year in 2006! We currently have 82 members.
Six are honorary.
Our general meetings are usually held on the second Tuesday morning of every month (except June,
July, and August). Most of our meetings are held in the meeting room of the Bedford Free Public Library, located next to the
high school on Mudge Way in Bedford. The exceptions are our holiday party, annual meeting, an evening meeting, and an occasional
field trip. Our social hour begins at 9:30 a.m., and the meeting and program begin at 10:00 a.m. The Executive Board meets
on the fourth Monday of the month in members' homes.
The purpose of our club is to stimulate among amateurs the
knowledge and love of gardening, the protection of native trees and plants, and encouragement of civic planting. Our members
help with fundraisers so that we may continue to support our civic projects and annual scholarship. We have interesting meetings,
learn a lot, and have fun in the process! We have been a member of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc., since
2001.
If you are a Bedford, Massachusetts, resident and are interested in joining our club, come to one of our
meetings and complete an application at our membership table, or you may request an application via e-mail to our membership
chairperson, Sally Sutherland (normsuth@verizon.net). The cost to join is $25 per year which includes membership in the Federation."
"The History of the Bedford Garden Club" was completed in April 2006. Copies of this publication are available
for circulation at the Bedford Public Library.
